Sterling silver reticulated jewish mezuzah pendant, shaped as a cylinder, covered at the top and at the bottom by royal blue cups with a Star of David design on them. In front there is a large sky-blue Star of David shaped by 6 butterflies attached to each other. It is surrounded by long stems of royal blue grass with 5 butterflies resting between them. The openings in the design allow you to see a glass tube with the prayer of Shemah in Hebrew inserted into the silver case. The tube is sealed from both sides protecting its content from damage. A legend of the Butterfly Star of David has its roots in the times of Spanish Inquisition . They say, that Jews who were forced to convert to Christianity but secretly continued to practice Jewish faith would wear a butterfly necklace which formed a Star of David when closed. We created this pendant in memory of the tragedy and heroism of our ancestors. The pendant is about 1.4" long and 0.5" wide.We sell all our pendants with a sterling silver 18" chain and a small booklet with the text of the prayer, you will be wearing. On one page of the booklet the prayer is printed in Hebrew and its translation into English is on the other page.
