Charles Dickens' novel is given a respectful treatment in this faithful retelling of the classic story. Told in flashback style, the film follows young David's journey through life, beginning as a young orphan to an adult filled with regret, who eventually finds resolution in the present. An all star cast featuring Richard Attenborough, Cyril Clark and Edith Evans bring these literary characters to life. A haunting score by Sir Malcom Arnold adds to the mood and sets an authentic tone throughout.
